The celebrations of Carnival in Martock were born only a few years ago, about ten, for fun, almost spontaneously, and perhaps in the ancient spirit of the original party. After a few years the event has started to take parochial tone professionalized and forcibly putting the various competing neighborhoods looking for even more competition for carnival celebrations with a tradition like that of St. Benedict. The large turnout and individual ambitions have brought the event to require more substantial funding, compared to the limited availability of the administration local, fights, tears and continuous "confrontation" with Mayor and Aldermen. Eventually the lack of spontaneity and genuine intentions have turned the event into an appointment unintentionally grotesque, poor in ideas, full of personality and overall just bad. This is why the news of cancellation of the parade of 2011 should be taken as good news, and more an excuse to try new ideas and turn the page.
